If you know me, you know I have a very soft, soft, tender spot for fall. The thought of incorporating fall decor into my already mismatch style is stressful. As I still cannot pinpoint exactly what I am. A mix of mid century, eclectic and vintage. So the traditional oranges + over the top sayings for fall always overwhelm me. I made a burlap wreath a few years ago and have been using it for the past couple of fall’s but I decided it was time to upgrade. Let’s get classy. This year, I decidedI am going alternative + different!
I saw raw cotton on Pinterest and decided that I wanted it to be a staple in my decor. Luckily I snagged two big heaps of it at HomeGoods. PTL. The other floral pieces I picked up at Michaels. My piece of advice there is, you don’t need more than one piece each. I overbought. 🙂
I bought the 19 inch twig wreath and chose dusty miller, blue thistle, cotton, some rose gold branchy like things, and another longer white cotton looking thing. (good descriptions, eh?)
Basically, you just cut your stems down so that you have 1.5-2 inches to work with, and shove them into the wreath. I fixed some of the looser pieces with copper wire. (not a necessary component) I put the bigger green pieces in first, halfway around the wreath and then added in the smaller!
I love the way it looks in person (I swear it is better in person) 🙂
